Norwegian BankID

BankID is Norways leading electronic identification-method. It was published in 2004, and was developed in cooperation with multiple large banks, similiarly to its Swedish relative.

Today they supply over 4 million Norwegians with safe login, bank access, insurance, online payment and mobile identification. This eID is also supported by Addo Sign.

What is Norwegian BankID

Even though Norway isn't part of the EU, it still follow the law on Electronic identification and trusted service providers, that was implemented in accordance to Norways implementation of the the eIDAS regulative in 2018.

Since this is a certified eID signing method, delivered by a Trusted Service Probider, it meets all eIDAS demands for an Advanced Electronic signature, and will thus be accepted as a trusted signing method in countries inside, and outside the EU.

BankID can be used as an identification or signing method on any document.

The document recipient can in any transaction choose between using BankID and BankID Mobile.

BankID mobile is an alternative option for identification and signing documents. In this case, you use your phone for 2 factor-authentification. With BankID mobile, you must be aware that you by default can't sign multiple documents with 1 sign-in, even though the option Sign multiple documents with one signature is enabled.
Follow the guide How to sign with Norsk BankID Mobile when the signing key is on if you want this option.
