      eIDAS authentication/signing

      eIDAS is the name of the EU regulation covering digital identification. However, it is also the name of one of our identification methods.

      eIDAS is a secure (AES - Advanced Electronic Signature) signing method. If you need to send a document for signature in countries outside Scandinavia and the Netherlands, and want security on a par with MitID, this is an obvious solution. 

      Note: If you use eIDAS in a signature, both the signature and the identification method must be eIDAS. This happens automatically if you choose eIDAS as one of the two.

      What is eIDAS?

      Visma eIDAS is a common European identification method that enables consumers to use their own secure and reliable login method. By choosing eIDAS as your identification method, you allow the signatory to identify themselves with an approved digital ID in the country concerned. The recipient chooses from the list of countries and is then presented with a new window for the identification itself.

      After successful identification, the signer will be able to access the transmitted documents and sign with the sender's chosen signature method. However, the stamp on the document will be an eIDAS stamp, regardless of the country the signer is from. This stamp thus certifies that an AES has been used to sign the document.       The way of signing therefore varies according to the country of the signer. The only thing that is common is the portal where you select the country.

      At the moment it applies to the following countries. Please note that the list will be updated regularly.

       

      Other EU Countries

      All countries in the EU are obliged to accept electronic signatures and identification from all EU member countries from September 2018 in accordance with the eIDAS regulation.

      Each member state must therefore also establish, maintain and publish a list of trusted service providers together with information about the trusted service they offer.

      Addo Sign is constantly expanding in relation to new signature and identification options. Some of these will be added under the eIDAS option, and others will be added as a separate options.

      eIDAS in "add signer" 

      In Addo, you have two different options to set eIDAS as the signature method. You can either do it when adding signatures or in templates. We will now go through the "add signer"

      1. Click Send
      2. Click Add signer 
      3. Click on the menu below Signing Method, and choose eIDAS
      4. Click Add 

      You are now ready to send your document to be signed with eIDAS. 

       

      eIDAS in templates

      We will now go through, how to change your templates signing method to eIDAS.

      1. Click the cogwheel in the top right corner
      2. Click Templates
      3. Click on the template you wish to change. (If you want to create a brand new template, you can read more here)

        You will now be led to a new page.

      4. Click on the menu below Signing method and select eIDAS 
      5. Remember to click Save at the bottom of the page

      Your template is now set to use eIDAS and is ready for use. 

       

      What does the signature look like? 

      Regardless of the country the signer is from, the stamp will look the same, provided that you have used the eIDAS portal. 

      The stamp on the resulting document looks like this:
