In Addo Sign, we offer SMS delivery for several purposes, such as notifying recipients and validating a signer’s identity. SMS delivery is supported in a wide range of countries. However, availability is limited in certain regions, and these limitations are outlined below.
Use Cases
Notifications
SMS can be used to notify a signer about important events in the signing process, including:
Sending an invitation to sign a document
Reminding a signer about a pending signature
SMS notifications are especially useful for touchscreen signing. Signing on mobile phones, tablets, or other touch-enabled devices is recommended, as it makes the signing experience easier and more intuitive. SMS notifications can also be used together with email notifications.
How to Use SMS as a Notification Method
You can select SMS as a notification method either when sending a document or by configuring it in a template.
Send Page
Click Add signer
Open the Notification dropdown menu
Select SMS
Enter the signer’s name, email address, and phone number
Click Add signer
Templates
If you always want to use SMS notifications, you can preselect this option in a template.
Create a new template or open an existing one
Select SMS under Notification in the dropdown menu
Once the document is sent for signing, the recipient will automatically receive an SMS notification. You can also send an SMS notification manually from the transaction overview.

Please note that the SMS message content can be customized. For more information on how to edit messages sent from Addo Sign, click HERE.
Sending an SMS Reminder Manually
Open the Overview
Click on the relevant transaction
If multiple signers are involved, click the individual signer’s row to open the transaction window
Click Send new notification to signer
In the dialog that appears, click OK or change the Send with method if needed
⚠️ To prevent spam and misuse, reminder notifications are limited to one per hour.
Identification method
SMS can also be used as an identification method by sending an automatically generated one-time code to the signer’s phone number. The signer must enter this code to proceed with signing.
How to select SMS for authentication method
Click on the drop down menu for authentication
Select SMS code
Once the recipient has accessed the signing portal, they will be presented with a page where they must enter the SMS code they received.
⚠️ SMS codes can be resent every 30 seconds.
Signer's receipt
SMS can be used to deliver a copy of the signed document to the signer via a download link once the signing process is completed or only provide a receipt for completing the signing process.
