The Security Behind Secure File Transfer

The security behind Secure File Transfer through Addo Sign is at the same high level as if you need to access your online bank, e-Boks, Mit.dk or similar.

When creating a transfer, the files that are sent will be uploaded to a unique portal that can only be accessed by the recipient through a link that is sent encrypted with TLS encryption and an identification method chosen by the sender.

It is therefore the sender himself who decides how high the level of security must be, based on which shipping method and identification method is chosen. The recipient must therefore comply with the requirements chosen by the sender.

Send link for download

For all senders who have chosen "send link for download", it is a requirement that you use an identification method in order to access the documents.

This means that all shipments with Secure file transfer include a 2-factor identification prior to being able to access the sent documents.

There is therefore, in addition to the security layer of, Distribution of documents via Secure File Transfer by E-mail, will always be sent via a TLS encrypted connection, with TLS 1.2 or higher, if the e-mail to which it is sent supports this.

Distribution via SMS will also work via closed signaling and cannot be accessed in advance, but for this there is also a requirement for identification. This can be particularly relevant if you are in doubt as to whether you have sent the document to the correct recipient.

Distribution of documents with "Send link for download" can be used in connection with e-Boks, NgDP or Mit.dk. However, we recommend that documents to a secure distributor will be sent directly, as there is already an identification layer for access to the documents therein. More on this in the "Send files directly" section.

  1. You can choose between sending a download link or Send files directly. The difference between these 2 is that one option causes a message to be sent, in which there is a link you can click on to access the document. If you choose to send files directly, the files are simply delivered to the recipient's secure inbox.
  2. It is chosen which method will be used for distribution.
  3. The identification method is selected if it has been chosen to send a download link.

Send files directly

If you choose to send files directly via Secure File Transfer, they will be sent in advance through a secure connection to one of our partners in relation to secure distribution, including: e-Boks, NgDP or Mit.dk.

Since the files are sent via a secure connection, and that the platforms require that the person who wants to access their secure mailbox must use a 2-factor identification method, such as NemID or MitID, you do not get the opportunity to choose an identification method if one chooses this distribution method.
