How to get started
Before you can start using the e-Boks distribution method, you need to have the e-Boks integration set up for your account. If you haven’t set it up yet, please contact our support team at [email protected], and we’ll help you get started right away.
If you already have the integration and want to use it to send messages to colleagues or company-wide communications, you’ll first need to create a Secure File Transfer template dedicated to e-Boks messages.
How to Set Up a Template for Secure File Transfer via e-Boks
Go to Settings and click on Templates in the left-hand menu.
Choose Template Type: Secure File Transfer.
Click Create New to start setting up your template.
Once you have created a new template, you will see several options for configuring your template settings. Below, we outline the default and recommended settings for sending messages through e-Boks.

When creating your template, choose e-Boks as the sending method. You can select either Private e-Boks or Company e-Boks. If you plan to use both options, we recommend setting up two separate templates. One dedicated to private recipients and one for company recipients.
You will also have the option to apply encryption to the document. Most users do not choose this option, as MitID is already required to access e-Boks. However, we recommend adding encryption as an extra security layer if the information being shared is particularly sensitive.
The most common approach is to select Send files directly. This means the recipient will receive the message as a PDF in their e-Boks inbox and can review it immediately, without the need for additional steps. If encryption is applied, the recipient will still need to use the appropriate security method before accessing the document.
These are the standard settings we recommend for sending messages through e-Boks.
How to send a message using e-Boks
Go to Send in the menu.
Select Secure File Transfer.
Choose the e-Boks template you have created.
Click on Add one or more recipients (or the plus sign).
Enter the recipient’s name and PIN (CPR number).
Here you will be required to enter the receivers name and PIN (CPR-number).
Upload your files by dragging them into the file field or clicking the plus sign to add them.
Click Send to deliver the message directly to the recipient’s e-Boks inbox.
