What is CPR validation?

CPR validation is a function to verify a person by their CPR number, allowing you to check the identity of an individual. CPR validation can thus be used to confirm that the person is who they claim to be.

You receive the following information from the person you are validating:

  • Full Name
  • Current address registered in the national registry
  • CPR Number
  • Status in MitID

CPR validation requires both the use of your MitID and the entry of your CPR number, which is then matched against the CPR number listed in the personal MitID.

Therefore, you can be confident that the person who has validated themselves is indeed the correct person, as they have used both their personal MitID and entered the CPR number in the same action.

What can CPR validation be used for?

CPR validation can be used to verify the identity of the person you are in contact with, even if you are not physically together. This is done through CPR validation, which also retrieves the full name, CPR number, and address.

CPR validation can be used in various situations, including but not limited to:

  • When transferring confidential documents and ensuring you are in contact with the correct person.
  • When in dialogue with a person who is entering into a payment agreement or any other agreement involving money.
  • When leasing or renting out a car or other valuable equipment.

In each situation, you can start by sending a CPR validation to the person. You can then use the CPR number received during the validation to secure a new transaction to be signed by the person with this CPR number. This ensures that the correct signer is the one signing the agreement.

How does it work?

It is simple and quick to send a CPR validation request through Addo. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Press "Send"
  2. Navigate to the CPR-validering section
  3. Enter the recipient's details and CPR number
  4. Send the validation request

Hereafter, the recipient will receive an email that looks like this:

By clicking on the link "UDFYLD FORMULAR," the recipient will be redirected to this page:

Here, the recipient fills out their CPR number and will then be redirected to log in with MitID. Once this is done, the recipient will finally proceed to sign the validation. The document to be signed will appear as follows:

Once the recipient has clicked the "Underskriv dokument" (Sign document) button, the validation will be completed and signed. Both the sender and the recipient will receive the signed document.

How do you activate it?
