What is Secure File Transfer?
Secure file transfer provides a reliable and secure way to transfer sensitive data. It allows you to send one or more documents securely to one or more recipients, without the need for a signature. You can choose to either send the files directly or through a download link.
Before recipients can access the files, you have the option to encrypt the message. If using a download link, recipients must identify themselves using the selected authentication method.
Authentication Methods
To download the documents, the recipient must identify themselves. View available options here.
How to Send Using Secure File Transfer
To send a secure file transfer, navigate to the Send page and select "Secure file transfer".
Click Send in the blue top menu.
Select Secure file transfer.
Click Add recipient and fill in all required information. You can add as many recipients as needed.
Select the notification method (Email or SMS by default). The document(s) will be sent via a link.
If you have add-ons for secure digital inboxes (e-Boks, Mit.dk, Digital Post, Kivra), you can also choose to send the document directly. In this case, encryption is optional.
Add your document(s) by either drag and drop or click the plus (+) icon to upload them.
Once you're satisfied, click on "Send"
Sending Methods
Email or SMS:
The document is sent through a download link.
You can optionally add encryption to the document (via code, password, or PIN such as SSN).
Secure digital mailbox:
e-Boks (private/company)
Digital Post (private/company)
Mit.dk (private/company)
Callback
Kivra
With these methods, you can send via download link (with optional encryption), or send directly to the inbox. In both cases, authentication is required for the recipient.
Optional Settings Before Sending
Before you send the documents, you can customize:
Language of the message
A custom message to the recipient (available for Email and SMS methods only; shown when the recipient accesses the portal)
A deadline and reminders.
The invitation message (you can change or write your own)
Note: These options can be preconfigured in a Secure File Transfer template. Learn more about the template [here].
What It Looks Like to the Recipient
Below are two common scenarios for how secure file transfer appears to the recipient, depending on the chosen distribution method: Email and e-Boks (private).
Distribution Method: Email
This example shows the process for the recipient when they receive a notification to download a document sent via secure file transfer, using Email as the distribution method, with encryption enabled by code and authentication required by code. Below is an example of the email the recipient will receive.
The recipient must follow these steps:
Click on "Continue" in the email.
Enter the code provided by the sender of the secure file transfer.
Click on "Download". The document will be saved as a ZIP file.
Open the ZIP file and use the same code that was previously provided to access the content of the document.
Distribution method e-boks (private)
By using the method e-Boks and sending directly, the receiver will be able to see the document by simply opening the message in the E-boks mailbox:
